  • Solve the top row first and then never touch it again — permanent progress beats overall shuffling.
  • Think of moving the empty space, not the tiles: to slide a tile left, the gap must first reach its left side.
  • If a tile needs to travel far, walk it diagonally in an L-pattern of slides rather than one direction at a time.
  • The last two tiles of a row must be rotated in together around the corner — it feels like going backwards, but it is the standard maneuver.
